My name is Mark Parsons I'm a 49 year old who is hoping he is still in his mid-life crisis!! (rather than the male menopause). I have decided to try and raise some money for the Steeple Church Development Fund. Having been inspired by Mark Beaumont a fellow Dundonian. I came up with the idea of cycling around Scotland as it makes a change from John o' Groats to Land's End. I only found out later it was further and far more hilly!! I will be travelling a total of 1196 miles over a period of 17 days, an average of 70 miles per day. The total additive height attained over the whole trip is 31927 meters, which is equivalent to 3.6 times up Mount Everest - from sea level. Please help me by following me exploits and leaving me cheery messages and telling others about it. If you want to make a pledge all the better and thanks so much for your support. All the money pledged will go to the Steeple Development Project

We have had a really good day today. It has been an easy day for me, cycled from Newton Stewart via Stranrar. David decided that he need an extra jaunt down to the Mull of Galloway, - he still has a few more miles to catch up :D Just hope it slows him down a bit :S The wind dropped and we had some sun too. Generally feeling good. Got mys revenge on David in the night with a good snoring session after having visited someone who has known Joe for 50 years and is still his friend !!!!!! :D
We are with witha couple called Betty and Ron we arranged through the Church - have had a lovely tea and a great 4 berth caravan for the night. Of up through Ayr and ontt6

    Glad to hear the weather has improved abit. Sounds as though you're eating well, I thought you were hoping to lose some weight on this trip!

    As I understand your itinerary you're off to Arran today with a ferry trip thrown in - opportunity for a legitimate 'legs-up'! Hopefully the weather plays ball and the views are both breathtaking and inspiring! Clive J

    Well done both of you. Was marginally concerned when no report from Mon but assumed IT problem rather than worse! 'Fraid the current jet stream position is going to continue to cause unsettled weather conditions but you won't overheat! Perhaps the balance will be in favour of a tail wind? Go well. Ken
