My name is Mark Parsons I'm a 49 year old who is hoping he is still in his mid-life crisis!! (rather than the male menopause). I have decided to try and raise some money for the Steeple Church Development Fund. Having been inspired by Mark Beaumont a fellow Dundonian. I came up with the idea of cycling around Scotland as it makes a change from John o' Groats to Land's End. I only found out later it was further and far more hilly!! I will be travelling a total of 1196 miles over a period of 17 days, an average of 70 miles per day. The total additive height attained over the whole trip is 31927 meters, which is equivalent to 3.6 times up Mount Everest - from sea level. Please help me by following me exploits and leaving me cheery messages and telling others about it. If you want to make a pledge all the better and thanks so much for your support. All the money pledged will go to the Steeple Development Project

Saturday Blog

Up at 8am to a wonderful breakfast - bacon and egg sandwich and then it was back from Peterhead to Fraserburgh We had sunshine virtually all day - Aberdeenshire had to put up with me wearing shorts. HOWEVER - it could not be that easy, we had to cycle against a head wind (15mph). Was more tired than I expected forthe distance

I think my body is saying - " that is enough now - lets give it some rest!!!"

Arrived at David's house at 4pm so time to get ready for the last day!!

I am looking forward to tomorrow - to meet up with a few cyclist on the way and to meet all those that can make it tomorrow. The motivation in having you all cheering me on has been great. Thanks so much for your support. don't forget the just giving site please.

Looking forward to being home in Bonnie Dundee

BW Mark

  1. I tried cycling to school on Friday and was fed up with the wind in my face on the short ride home. How you've managed to cope with the conditions you've had to put up with during the last 16 days is amazing. Respect, Brother. Welcome Home tomorrow. Three Cheers from Piers!

Huge effort - well done young man!

Recognise the significant efforts of David and Joe too (+Rio) - a good team.

Rest well and hope that work tomorrow isn't too strange! Ken M
